The Bat! Email Version 4.0.34 Tutorial:![]() If you have never set up an account, The Bat will launch the account set up wizard seen below. If you need to add a new account, from the drop down menu under Account, choose New to launch the setup wizard ![]() To create a new account, choose I want to create a new account and click Next ![]() Account name can be whatever you want to call it. Click Next ![]() Your Full name can be whatever you want your email to show as the sender's name. Email address is your full email address Click Next
Choose the type of email system you are connecting to. (This tutorial covers POP3, IMAP is similar to POP3 but uses different port settings so you can still follow along if using IMAP) Email address is your full email address This system autofills the domain name in for server information. Change the incoming and outgoing mail servers to match the information your email provider has given you Click Next
Username for many email providers will be your full email address This system autofills in the first portion. If your email provider requires the full address, be sure to change this Enter the Password for your email account Select if you want to leave a copy of your email messages on the server Some email providers require APOP login, check with your email provider before marking this box Click Next
Choose how you connect to the internet, (the system usually can auto detect this). Click Next
To test your account, select Yes Click Finish IMPORTANT NOTE! Port numbers for the incoming and out going servers for The Bat email system can only be changed through command line "C:\Program Files\The Bat!\TheBat.EXE" /ADD /ADD Parameters User="account name" specifies the account's name InServer="POP/IMAP server address" specifies the Incoming Mail server address OutServer="SMTP server address" specifies the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) server address InUser="POP/IMAP login user" specifies the user name at the Incoming Mail server Password="The Bat! account login password" specifies the password assigned to the account OutUser="User name for SMTP authentication" specifies the user name at the Outgoing Mail server (if it differs from the user name specified for the Incoming Mail server). OutPassword="Password for SMTP authentication" specifies the password at the Outgoing Mail server (if it differs from the password specified for the Incoming Mail server). Combined use if the send+receive option should be activated Deferred use if deferred delivery should be used by default IMAP use if IMAP protocol should be used for this account SizeLimit= use if the size of received messages should be limited to N K Bytes PortPOP=N specifies a non-standard POP port for the account PortSMTP=N specifies a non-standard SMTP port for the account PortIMAP=N specifies a non-standard IMAP port for the account When you use the /ADD command, you must follow it with a /EXIT command. The account will not be usable until The Bat! has been restarted. Also The Bat! checks a file called TheBat.IPC which is located in the same directory in which The Bat! executable (TheBat.exe) file is located. Within this text file, each line represents one command that can be executed by the program, so you can write commands to this file directly and control The Bat!. TheBat.IPC is deleted as soon as all commands from it have been executed, so if this file does not exist, you will have to create it to make use of it. you can run only one copy of The Bat! Certain changes to an account can be made through the regular interface
From the drop down menu under Account, choose Properties
In Mail Management, you can choose to delete messages off the server
The account password can be changed by choosing Change Password on Server from the drop down menu under Account
Enter the new password information
From the drop down menu in options, choose preferences to affect the look and feel to your system as well as set junk/spam filtering
