Choose if you are using POP3 or IMAP Enter the Incoming (POP3) and Outgoing (SMTP) server to whatever your email provider has listed Click Next
This system auto fills in the user name, which you may need to change UserName often times may need to be your entire email address, this system only fills in the first portion Click Next
This system auto fills in the Account Name, which you can change to anything you want it to be Click Next
Click Finish
Enter your password for the email account Choose if you want the computer to remember your password Click OK If you need to make custom changes, continue to making changes Making Changes to an already existing email account
To make changes to an already existing email account, choose properties from the Account menu
From the Edit menu, choose Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings
In the Account section You can change your account name, your name, email address, signature
In the Server Settings You can change the incoming server port choose how often messages get picked up and if a copy of the message gets left on the server
In the Disk Space There is a section to choose to skip over messages over a specified size If you have problems receiving large emails, check here to see if it is marked
In Outgoing Server You can change your outgoing mail server and your username There is not a place to change the outgoing mail port Spam / Junk mail Filtering
From the Edit menu, choose Message Filters
If you have more than 1 email account, use the drop down menu to choose which email account you want to apply the rules to Click New to create a new filter
This system allows you to filter by subject, sender, specific words or phrases. It is a very comprehensive filtering system. |
